The British Columbia Institute of Technology is nationally recognized as a premier skills development organization, as is captured in its stated mission to create "job ready skills" through its programming.

As part of BCIT, the Venture Development Centre's (VDC) major goal is to provide entrepreneurial skills training to individuals seeking to commence their own business ventures. VDC operates several initiatives designed to reach and benefit a spectrum of target groups, from elementary school students to executives at the peak of their careers

The story of VDC is really that of our graduates. Since 1989, our group has helped hundreds of British Columbians make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality. Our venturepreneurs are a force throughout their communities, acting as employers, advisors and mentors, spreading the basics of how to start ventures successfully.

This revised version of our online learning tool is built on our experience helping real people with real start ups. Our classrooms are living laboratories for the testing and development of new training techniques. This keeps our online material current and interesting, a step beyond the "canned" material which so often is the hallmark of Internet-based information.
